Ahead To Launch of Centsible Families program in Coos County
With funding from the NH Charitable Foundation and Passumpsic Savings Bank, AHEAD Inc. is excited to announce the launch of the new Centsible Families program in Coos County. Starting in Groveton and Lancaster Elementary schools, AHEAD's trained staff will provide 6 weeks of financial lessons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Students will learn the valuable money skills such as, money recognition, budgeting, needs vs. wants, and the importance of saving.
As part of the Centsible Families program each 1st, 2nd, and 3rd student at participating Coos schools will be able to open their own college savings account through Passumpsic Savings Bank. Passumpsic Savings Bank will provide an initial deposit of $25.00 in gift money for each account openned. Students who are eligible for the Free & Reduced Lunch program may also receive an additional $10.00 gift deposit. In addition, families who participate in a future Centsible Families evening workshop will receive another additional $25.00 of gift money, per account.
Students will have the opportunity to make regular deposits into their college savings accounts during banking days that will be offered at each participating school. AHEAD staff will receive and record deposits for the children into their Passumpsic Savings Bank account. Families can also make deposits directly into the account at any Passumpsic Savings Bank branch.
